About

Angela Sara West Celeb MonatgeAs a very young girl, I loved to read and fell in love with writing the first minute I picked up a pencil. Inspired by magical books including The Waterbabies and The Hobbit, I couldn’t wait to write my first story. Following a few years of practice “telling tales”, at just 12 years- old my debut book, Oggy The Ogre, won 1st prize in my local library’s writing competition. This accolade saw me well and truly bitten by the writing bug… and I haven’t stopped writing since!

I couldn’t get enough of scrapbooking at an early age either, cutting out photos from magazines and brochures to illustrate my documented family holidays travels, laying them out as if they were in glossy magazines. Little did I know, this was a premonition of my future career…

Following work experience at a travel agency, A’ levels and college, where I studied languages and art, an exciting opportunity at the BBC presented itself, at the wonderful World Service, where I worked in news, current affairs and language services.

Alongside my writing, my other passion is music. Transitioning from the World Service and landing a dream job at BBC Radio 1 during the popular music station’s “golden era” in the mid-90s, saw me not only working on the Top 40 charts and writing music and entertainment news stories, but meeting a few of my idols, including Robbie Williams, Kylie Minogue and INXS’s Michael Hutchence. The station’s shows, glitzy parties and glamorous events also saw me singing along with Britney Spears, chatting with The Spice Girls, Lulu, Mary J Blige, Henry Winkler (aka The Fonz) and Puff Daddy (or whatever he calls himself these days!!), sitting next to Sting and Paul Young in the Green Room at Television Centre and next to Jamie Cullum at his own gig, and rubbing shoulders on dance floors with Boy George, Steps and Yasmin and Simon Le Bon!

These amazing, star-studded years at “The Beeb” saw my writing style evolve and my journalistic skills honed and, following a career break spent studying French in Nice in the South of France, I decided to leave the corporation to go solo to realise my dream of travel and luxury lifestyle writing for those glossy magazines I used to emulate.

Nowadays, I enjoy telling celebrities’ stories, and regularly speak to big names about their glitzy’n’glam lives, their paths to fame and fortune, and their travels, homes and lifestyles overseas. I have been fortunate to interview famous faces including Michael Douglas, Sir Richard Branson and Donald Trump’s ex-wife Ivana, as well as Claudia Schiffer, Gok Wan and Sir Ranulph Fiennes, among numerous other household names. From celebrities and city guides, to high-end interiors and property pieces, my articles have been published in print and digital travel, luxury lifestyle and business magazines around the world, including Channel 4’s A Place in the Sun, Upscale Living, Places&Faces, abcMallorca, Craft Business and multi-award-winning The Business Travel.

I never know who I might be offered next for interview… and my inbox has never looked so exciting!
